Innovation & experimentation

Bethan has a proven track record of innovation in teaching and learning, underpinned by evidence-based practice and measurable impact. Her work champions experimentation that enhances student engagement, deepens learning, and strengthens academic–industry collaboration.

She launched the Postgraduate Mentoring Network, a two-year funded initiative matching students with alumni and professional mentors. Initially involving 18 partnerships, the programme delivered transformative outcomes in confidence, career readiness, and community building. Now in its eighth year, it has scaled five-fold and continues to be a cornerstone of the postgraduate student experience.

Bethan also pioneered the Sponsored Masters Project, which pairs MA student research with industry partners to tackle live business challenges. This model creates mutually beneficial outcomes - students gain practical, applied research opportunities, while industry benefits from fresh insights and innovation.

To enhance postgraduate research supervision, Bethan initiated and implemented training for supervisors, equipping staff with tools to foster more effective, supportive student relationships. This initiative has improved supervisory consistency and student satisfaction.

Internationally, Bethan has forged strategic higher education partnerships with leading institutions including Bocconi University, Politecnico di Milano and CUOA Business School (Italy), LIM and FIT (New York), IFM (Paris), and RMIT (Australia). These collaborations enrich the academic experience through global exchange, joint projects, and shared pedagogic practices.

Bethan’s innovative leadership continues to shape future-facing, inclusive, and impactful learning environments in fashion business education.

Bethan is an experienced academic advisor and external examiner, supporting quality assurance, curriculum development, and research standards across international higher education.
